Brian Leslie Strudwick
Sadly passed away at 5AM 23rd November 2006.
Previous occupations included working on the railway for many years aswell as being in the coldstream gaurds, this way of life meant alot to him. He was also once president of Goring Conservative Club.
My dad had a brother, dennis and a sister, Valerie and was also the proud father of three.Dad to Mandy and Wayne with Kath.
Step father to lisa and helen. And Grandad and\'pops\' to darren, ross and charlotte and foster\'pops\' to sam and many more. He was the beloved partner of Susan Barnard(my mum) for over thirty years.
My dear dad had lung cancer 20 years ago he fought this like the fighter he was but also lost half a lung due to this. Not long after i arrived and from that day i was daddy\'s little girl,my Dad was in remission.
In the year of 2004 my Dad started to lose weight for no apparent reason.. Although the doctors and hospital scans and test always appeared negitive we knew something was wrong!Dad had always had a big appetite with a healthy appearence but before me now was stood a frail, gaunt man i wouldnt of recognised if it wasnt for his ever loving face.
In July 2006 i celebrated my 18th birthday and i was so happy to have my dad there too by this time he weighed not much more than 7stone, we still had no answers why!
September 2006: along with my mum who was always there for him my dad went to his latest hospital appointment and it was then we finally got answers.. Dad had a tumour the size of a grapefruit in his lung it had been there approx.2years!! The doctor questioned why he had been left so long his phrase was\"Theres nothing of you man, your all skin and bones, how could they leave you like this!!\"
My question; how could they? all the tests and scans!! They had really let him down!!
Dad was always brave, he was a man that couldnt handle emotion. He told me not to worry.
November 2006: My dad went down hill very quickly but only a few days before we lost him.The night we lost him like the brave man he was he insisted he wasnt in pain. When his brother arrived he even burst out in song..Frank sinatra\'s\'Fly me to the moon!\'
6 hours later he slipped away in his sleep. With the ones that loved him most around him at home in his own bed. I will always be gratefull to you mum for caring for Dad so well! For this reason i will always respect you. Your right nothing can hurt him now he is safe!!
My dad\\\'s funeral was held at worthing crematorium and there was a great turn out. I would like to thank all that attended!
My Dad\'s coffin had a union jack flag over it and the royal legion came and played the last post for him, he would have been delighted. It was beautiful and what he deserved!
Dad you flew to the moon too soon three months wasnt long enough to show you how much we cared! Loseing you broke our hearts. Tears still fall for you. You will never be forgotten!
Jimpy (Daddy\'s little girl)
